Larger machines such as lifts, tyre changers and MOT equipment are available in three versions. This page explains what each one includes, what happens on installation day, and the ongoing legal inspection requirements that apply once equipment is in use.
The three versions
- Delivered: the machine is delivered on a tail lift vehicle and lowered to ground level at your premises. You or your own installer are responsible for positioning, anchoring and commissioning it.
- Delivered and installed: our own engineers deliver the machine, position it in your bay, anchor it to the floor, commission it and test it in operation. You receive a handover on how to use and look after it, and a written installation record for your files.
- Installed with LOLER inspection: everything included in delivered and installed, plus the first thorough examination of the lift or lifting accessory, carried out by a competent person and certified before our engineers leave site.
What installation day looks like
Our engineers arrive at the agreed time, check the floor and position against the earlier survey, unpack and position the machine, and carry out the anchoring, levelling and commissioning steps set out by the manufacturer. Where a machine needs a three phase or dedicated single phase connection, the final electrical connection is made by a qualified electrician, either arranged by you or, where agreed in advance, by us. Once commissioning is complete, the engineer runs through operation and basic care with whoever will be using the equipment, and leaves a written installation record.
LOLER: six monthly thorough examination
Vehicle lifts and other lifting equipment used at work must be thoroughly examined by a competent person at least every six months under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), with a written report kept on file. This applies whether the lift was bought from us, from another supplier, or came with the premises. We carry out LOLER thorough examinations and can set up a schedule so your examinations happen on time without you needing to track the date yourself.
PSSR: compressors and pressure systems
Compressors and other pressure systems fall under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) and need a written scheme of examination, prepared by a competent person, setting out what must be examined and how often. We can advise on what a written scheme covers and arrange examinations under that scheme.
Service contracts
We offer service visits and calibration for lifts, tyre changers, wheel balancers, wheel alignment equipment, MOT test equipment and compressors, whether bought from us or elsewhere. A service contract lets you plan routine servicing, LOLER examinations and calibration together, rather than booking each one separately.
