Two post lifts are the working heart of most garages: full access to wheels, brakes and underside, on a small floor footprint. Symmetric lifts suit vans and long vehicles; asymmetric lifts set the car further back so the doors open clear of the posts. Clear floor models run their cables overhead and need more ceiling height, base plate models run them across the floor and fit lower buildings.

Delivery installation and use

Ex demonstration machines have been used for customer demonstrations only, are inspected and serviced before dispatch and carry the same warranty as new. Stock is limited and cosmetic marks are photographed on request. A lift is only as safe as the floor it stands on. Most two post lifts need at least 150 to 200 mm of sound concrete of C25 strength or better at the anchor points, free of cracks and joints. We survey the floor before installation, and where it is not suitable we arrange a pad to be cut and poured rather than installing on a floor that will not hold. Vehicle lifts used at work must be thoroughly examined by a competent person every six months under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations, with a written report. We offer the examination and a service contract, and we are happy to explain the rules for home garages, where they do not apply in the same way but good practice is the same. Check your supply before ordering. Single phase machines run from a 230V supply but larger motors need a dedicated 16 or 32 amp circuit; three phase machines need a 400V supply. An electrician should make the final connection. Larger items are delivered on a tail lift vehicle to ground level. Tell us about steps, narrow gates or a gravel drive when you order and we will plan around them. Finance is available on larger items for business and personal customers, subject to status and approval, spread over one to five years. Business customers can often offset the cost against tax, which your accountant can confirm. We supply workshop equipment to independent garages, tyre and MOT centres, fleet workshops and home mechanics, and we install and service what we sell. We describe each machine by what it is built to do rather than by brochure numbers, and we will tell you if a cheaper machine suits your work better.

Delivered is delivered to your door on a tail lift vehicle for you or your own installer to position and commission. Delivered and Installed is delivered, positioned, anchored and commissioned by our engineers with a handover and a written installation record. Installed with LOLER Inspection is installed and commissioned, with the first thorough examination under LOLER carried out and certified.
